Waheeda Rehman: Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Waheeda Rehman this year.

Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman will be honored this year with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to an announcement made by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, on September 26th, renowned actress Waheeda Rehman will receive the famous Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest accolade in the Indian film industry.

With roles in movies like Pyasa, CID, Guide, Kagaz Ke Phool, Khami, and Trishul, Waheeda Rehman is regarded as one of India’s best actresses.

The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister addressed the audience and stated, “I feel extremely delighted and honored to announce that Waheeda Rehman ji will be conferred with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award this year for her outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. ” The Minister continued.

“ In a moment when the monumental Women’s Reservation Bill has earned approval in Parliament, bestowing upon her this prestigious lifetime achievement award stands as a genuine homage to one of India’s foremost figures  women who has dedicated her life to philanthropy and the welfare of society,” Thakur added in reference to the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

Waheeda Rehman’s acting career:
  • Roju Marayi and Jayasimha, two Telugu movies, served as the foundation for Waheeda Rehman’s acting career in 1955.
  • She made her cinematic debut in Hindi in 1956 with the movie “CID,” in which she also starred.
  • The skilled actress has appeared in more than 90 films in a variety of languages throughout the course of a career spanning more than five decades.
  • She had previously won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of a tribal bride in the 1971 film “Reshma Aur Shera.”
  • The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards have been given to her.
