Vicky Kaushal is the ideal actor, says Sam Bahadur preview Sam Manekshaw is criticising Indira Gandhi’s viewpoints.

Vicky Kaushal portrays Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s biopic of the latter. On December 1, it is expected to be released in theatres.

Vicky Kaushal has returned wearing an Indian Army outfit. The sequel to his 2019 military action hit Uri: The Surgical Strike, for which he received a National Film Award, is not the subject of this. This time, Sam Bahadur, better known as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, is the subject of the biopic. Vicky is transformed into India’s first field marshal in the movie’s teaser, which was unveiled on Friday.

Vicky may resemble Sam Bahadur in his 1960s and 1970s appearance, but Uri’s influence can be seen in both the character’s demeanour and the film’s location. Vicky, playing Sam, is seen motivating his fellow soldiers, nearly giving the impression that he’ll soon start singing “How’s the Josh,” his well-known line from Aditya Dhar’s movie.

Even portions of his conversation, such as the speech he gives to former prime minister Indira Gandhi (played by Fatima Sana Sheikh) at the conclusion of the teaser, is tonally very similar to Uri’s universe. He responds when Indira says that a soldier’s job is to perish on the battlefield by saying that a soldier’s responsibility is to kill the soldiers on the other side.

The parallels could also be a result of Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, the same production company that funded both of the military films. Following their 2018 hit spy thriller Raazi, Meghna Gulzar and Vicky have teamed up again for Sam Bahadur.

Sam Bahadur, who was he?

The Chief of Army Staff during the 1971 India-Pakistan War was Sam Bahadur. He was also the first member of the Indian Army to be given the promotion to field marshal. His professional life spanned nearly five decades and five conflicts, including World War II. The Padma Vibhushan Award, India’s second-highest civilian honour, was given to him. Every year on December 16, Vijay Diwas is observed to commemorate India’s triumph over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which was led by him.

Sanya Malhotra plays Siloo Manekshaw, his wife, in Sam Bahadur. On December 1, the movie is scheduled for release in theatres.
