The 2036 Olympics are confirmed, and PM Modi calls them the “dream of 140 crore Indians.”

At the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session. When PM Modi arrived in Mumbai, he was welcomed by Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar, and Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief ministers of Maharashtra.

India is willing to host the Olympics in the nation, Prime Minister Modi stated at the occasion. The ambition of the 140 billion Indians is that the Olympics would be successfully organised in 2036, hence India will stop at nothing to make this happen.

The IOC will undoubtedly continue to help India, according to Prime Minister Modi, who also stated that “We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics.”

In his speech to the audience, Prime Minister Modi discussed the significance of sports in India’s storied history and said that there aren’t many national holidays in India without any locations connected to them.

“The spirit of sports is universal,” declared PM Modi. “In athletics, there are only winners and students; there are no losers. Humanity is empowered by sports. Everyone applauds record-breaking, he continued.

Almost 40 years have passed since the last time India hosted the IOC session. In 1983, New Delhi hosted the 86th session of the IOC, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Along with famous Indian sports figures and representatives from several sports federations, including the Indian Olympic Association, the session was also attended by the IOC’s president, Thomas Bach, and other IOC members.

The Indian PM was greeted with “aapka bahut-bahut swagat hai” (we welcome you) by IOC President Thomas Bach, who had begun his speech earlier in the evening by extending a “namaste” to the audience. He said that the nation has been growing economically and in sports as well.

India is a motivating country, according to Bach. The Indian Olympic community as a whole can be pleased with their performance at the Asian Games. In his speech, the IOC president emphasised the value of include e-sports in the Olympic schedule and the necessity of believing in and empowering young people.

Notably, Bach stated during a news conference on Friday that cricket would be included in the 2028 Olympics due to its growing popularity around the globe. Additionally, Bach noted that India is hosting the current Cricket World Cup successfully.
