PM Modi on Gaza hospital attack: Accountability should be taken from those involved

Regarding the Gaza hospital bombing , PM Modi stated that civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a significant and continuous concern.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi denounced civilian killings in the ongoing conflict and conveyed his profound dismay at the terrible deaths at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. “Deeply disturbed by the senseless deaths at Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital. We send our sincere condolences to the victims’ families and hope that the injured people heal quickly. Concern over civilian casualties in the ongoing fighting is grave and will not go away. Holding those guilty is imperative,” PM Modi tweeted.

A hospital in Gaza was attacked on Wednesday, and hundreds of people—including children—were killed. Although Islamic Jihad, a Palestinian group, denied any involvement in the incident, the Israeli Defence Forces blamed them for it, while Hamas blamed Israel. Israeli troops released before-and-after footage and an analysis proving that Islamic Jihad’s misfire was the cause of the incident and that Hamas exaggerated the number of casualties in order to place the responsibility on Israel.

The IDF claimed that because it was a misfire, the hospital’s structure and the nearby buildings suffered less damage than they would have if it had been an attack. Israel was the intended target, but according to Israel, the missile failed to fire and fell on the hospital.

On October 7, after Hamas launched rockets at Israel and Israel declared war in reprisal, the Israel-Hamas conflict erupted. In his initial statement during the crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India stood in solidarity with Israel during this trying time.

“Very horrified to learn about the terrorist attacks in Israel. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the innocent victims. At this trying time, we are united with Israel,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on October 7.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, spoke with Prime Minister Modi over the phone on October 10. PM Modi reiterated that India vehemently and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations and offered his deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of those killed and injured in the terrorist attacks in Israel. He also conveyed that Indians stand in solidarity with Israel during this trying time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow at the horrific deaths inflicted in an attack on a Gaza hospital on Wednesday, stating that civilian casualties in the current conflict are a serious concern and that those responsible should be held accountable.

The Hamas organisation claimed in media sources that hundreds of people were murdered on Tuesday in a major explosion at the al-Ahli hospital in Gaza. While the Israeli military said it was not involved and that a Palestinian missile that misfired was to blame for the explosion, Hamas claimed the blast was the result of an Israeli airstrike.

“Deeply disturbed by the senseless deaths at Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital. We send our deepest sympathies to the relatives of the deceased, and we pray for a quick recovery for the injured,” Modi stated on X.

“There is grave and persistent concern over civilian casualties in the current fighting. The prime minister declared that those guilty should be held accountable.

On October 7, armed Hamas terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip launched an unprecedented land, air, and sea offensive on Israel, sparking the start of hostilities between Israel and Hamas. There have been up to 2,778 Palestinian deaths since hostilities began.
