Unveiling the Triumphs: National Film Awards 2023 Winners

“On Thursday at the National Media Center in New Delhi, the 69th National Film Awards 2023 winners were revealed. The best Indian films produced in a variety of languages throughout the calendar year 2021 will be honored at this event, which will take place at a later time. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved both feature-length and short movies between January 1 and December 31, 2021, and these movies could compete.

Rocketry, best feature film.

Best Director: Godavari’s Nikhil Mahajan

The Kashmir Files won the RRR Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration for Best Popular Film Offering Balanced Entertainment.

Best Actors: Pushpa and Allu Arjun

Alia Bhatt for Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kriti Sanon for Mimi won the award for best actress.

Pankaj Tripathi for Mimi is the best supporting actor.

For The Kashmir Files, Pallavi Joshi won for best supporting actress.

Bhavin Rabari for Chhailo Sho is the best young artist.

Best Original Screenplay: Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utakarshini Vashishtha for Gangubai Kathiawadi Best Adapted Screenplay: Shahi Kabir and Utakarshini Vashishtha for Nattu

Best Dialogue: Devi Sri Prasad for Pushpa and Utakarshini Vashishtha for Gangubai Kathiawadi. Best Music Direction (Songs):

Best Male Playback: MM Keeravani for RRR Best Music Direction (Background Score) Kala Bhairava, singer, won the RRR Best Female Playback award. Shreya Ghoshal is the singer for Iravin Nizhal.

Best Hindi Film: Sardar Udham Best Lyrics: Chandrabose for Konda Polam Ka Dham Dham Dham

The top Kannada movie is 777 Charlie.

Home, the best Malayalam movie.

Chhailo Sho is the best Gujarati movie.

Kaadhal Vivasaayi is the best Tamil movie.

Uppena, the best Telugu film.

Samanantar is the best maithili movie.

Boomba Ride, the best mishing movie

Ekda Kay Jhala is the best Marathi movie.

Kolkokkha, the best Bengali movie.

Anuradha, the best Assamese film.

Eikhoi Yam won the Best Meiteilon Film award. Pratyasha won the Best Odia Film award. Meppadiyan, Vishnu Mohan won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Director.

Anunad – The Resonance is the best socially conscious movie.

Gandhi and Company is the top children’s movie, and Avas Vyuhum is the best environmental film.

Veera Kapur Ee for Sardar Udham won for best art direction.

Best Production Design goes to Dimitri Malik and Mansi Dhruv Mehta for Sardar Udham and Best Special Effects goes to Shrinivas Mohan for RRR.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali won an award for best editing in the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Preetisheel Singh won an award for best makeup.

King Solomon for RRR won the Special Jury Award for Best Stunt Choreography. Sher Shah and Vishnuvardhan

Special mentions include the late Shri Nallandi for Kadisi Vivasaayi, Aranya Gupta and Bithun Biswas for Jhillee, Indrans for Home, and Jahnavi Begum for Anuradha.

Best short movie: Ek Tha Gaon

Best Non-Feature Film Direction: Bakul Matiyani’s Smile Please

Ankit Kothari’s Panchika won for best non-feature first film by a director.

Fire on the Hill, the best anthropological or ethnographic film

Best Biographical Film: Beyond Blast, Rukhmabai

Best artistic/cultural film: Strings 2 Divine by T.N. Krishna

Ethos of Darkness, best science- and technology-related movie

Best Promotional Film: “Warli Art” by Luptpray Virasat

Ayushman, the best exploration film

Siripiglin Siripangal is the best educational movie.

Daal Bhaat won for best short fiction film.

The best animated movie is Kandittundo.

The best family-values movie is Chaand Saanse.

Best Location Sound Recordist (Non-Feature Film): Arun Asok and Sonu K.P., Chavittu Best Cinematography (Non-Feature Film): Bittu Rawat for Paatal

Sinoy Joseph for Sardar Udham won the award for Best Audiography (Re-Recordist of the Final Mixed Track) in a Non-Feature Film, beating out Anish Bapu for Jilli.

Prem Rakshit for RRR won for best choreography, and Avik Mukhopadhyay for best cinematography for Sardar Udham.

Veera Kapur Ee won the award for Sardar Udham’s costumes.

Shrinivas Mohan for RRR won for best special effects.

Best Production Sound Mixer: Sonu K.P. Chavittu and Arun Asok

Unni Krishna, who re-recorded the final mixed track, won for it.

Suruchi Sharma and Meen Rag won the award for “Best Production Sound Mixer (Location/Sync Sound) (Non-Feature Film)”.

If Memory Serves Me Right by Abhro Banerjee won the award for best editing (non-feature film).

Ishaan Devchakka for Saksheham won the award for best non-feature film music direction.

Best Non-Feature Narration/Voice Over: Kuladha Kumar Bhattcharjee for Hathi Bundhu Special Mention: Aniruddha Jatkar for Bale Bangara, Shrikant Deva for Karuvurai, Sweta Kumar Das for The Healing Touch, and Ram Kamal Mukherjee for  Ek Dua.

Shekhar Bapu won the Special Jury Prize for Non-Feature Film. Rekha and Ranjankhambhe

Rajiv Vijaykar’s The Incredibly Melodious Journey is the best book about film.

Purushottam Charyulu is the best film critic.

Subramanyam Bandhura receives a Special Mention for Film Criticism

The  National Film Awards :

The awards presentation has been postponed by two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The top Indian movies that were released in calendar year 2020 were recognized at the 68th National Film Awards in 2022. The top prize for Best Feature Film went to the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, and Best Director went to the late producer Sachy for his work on Ayyappanum Koshiyum. The Best Actor honor went to Ajay Devgn and Suriya, who also shared the Best Actor honor with Aparna Balamurali. The 67th National Film Awards honored the top Indian movies of 2019, but they took place in the previous year.  Marakkar: The Arabian Sea’s Lion took home the highest prize that year.
